Sir Thomas Jone Woodward was known as Tom Jones, and his full-throated, soulful singing led to a series of hits in the 60s and a long successful career in Las Vegas.
He first performed at The Flamingo in 1967, and became instantly notorious for women throwing their undergsarments to him while on stage.
Jones first met Elvis Presley on a Hollywood soundstage and they became lifelong friends until Elvis’ death in 1977. They would often get together after hours in Elvis’ suite and perform duets into the morning hours. Read here the inside story of Tom Jones’ friendship with Elvis.
He has performed in Las Vegas at least one week each year until 2011, and he is still performing at various venues around the world.
